With an impressive resume spanning both sides of the border, veteran broadcaster David Amber brings over 20 years of sports broadcasting experience to his role as host of Hockey Night in Canada.
A member of the Hockey Night in Canada broadcast team since 2010, Amber served as rinkside reporter for five seasons before taking the host’s chair in studio alongside Ron MacLean for the 2016-17 NHL season.
Born and raised in Toronto, Amber received his master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University before beginning his career in Sault Ste. Marie, ON as an anchor and reporter at MCTV. Amber joined TSN in 1997, where he worked as a reporter for five years, covering the Stanley Cup Final, NBA Finals, World Series, the Grey Cup and two Olympic Games.
In 2002, Amber moved to ESPN and worked with the US broadcaster for eight years, hosting ESPN News, Sportscenter, Outside the Lines, as well as the hockey highlights show NHL2Night.
Prior to joining Hockey Night in Canada in 2012, Amber served as host of NHL On The Fly on the NHL Network from 2010-12. Amber also spent three seasons hosting the Toronto Raptors pre-game and post-game broadcasts on NBA TV Canada.
Amber was also a member of the Rio 2016 Olympic Summer Games broadcast team on CBC, acting as the of Olympic Games Daytime.
David currently resides with his wife and two children in Toronto.
