Contributing over 30 years of sports media experience to Sportsnet’s NHL coverage, Peter Loubardias signed on as the radio analyst for Calgary Flames broadcasts on Sportsnet 960 The FAN in September 2013.
Prior to joining Sportsnet for the 2013-14 NHL season, Loubardias served as the colour commentator on Western Hockey League broadcasts
A native of Saskatoon, Loubardias began his career in broadcasting with CJSL Radio in Estevan, Saskatchewan after graduating from the Western Academy Broadcasting College in 1984. After a brief stint in the news department, Loubardias accepted the role as the play-by-play announcer for the Estevan Bruins of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League before signing on with the Western Hockey League in 1988.
In 2000, Loubardias joined Sportsnet as a member of the CHL broadcast team and he went on to call eight Memorial Cup games during this time. Making his move to the big league in 2008, Loubardias signed on as play-by-play announcer for Sportsnet’s Calgary Flames television broadcasts.
Following three seasons with the Flames, Loubardias continued his work with the WHL before returning to Sportsnet as an analyst for Calgary Flames radio broadcasts on Sportsnet 960 The FAN in 2013.
In addition to his work in with the WHL and NHL, Loubardias also contributed to the men’s hockey coverage during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver and has served as a scout for the Red Deer Rebels.
