RJ Broadhead joined Sportsnet in 2000 as a network reporter, play-by-play host and anchor of Sportsnet Connected. During his time at Sportsnet, Broadhead has covered the 2005 World Series, 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, 2012 London Summer Olympic Games, Rogers Cup Tennis play by play with analyst Tracy Austin since 2013 Mastercard Memorial Cup Play by Play voice since 2012, did play by play for the 2016 World Cup of Hockey world feed, and has called games on Hockey Night in Canada, that’s just to name a few of the events. Currently, sports fans can catch Broadhead calling the play-by-play for The CHL on Sportsnet match-ups.
Born in Moose Jaw, SK, Broadhead began his broadcast career at a Rosetown, SK radio station in 1995. Assuming the role of DJ, News Director, Sports Director and play-by-play announcer for the SJHL’s Kindersley Klippers, Broadhead enjoyed two years of broadcast experience in Rosetown before moving onto CJWW radio station in Saskatoon. After spending two years with CJWW, Broadhead worked as a colour analyst for the WHL’s Saskatoon Blades before joining Global TV Saskatoon as a Sports Reporter, Anchor and Sports Director in 1998.
Looking up to star athletes Gordie Howe, Ron Francis, Jack Nicklaus and Michael Jordan as a child, Broadhead has had the incredible opportunity to interview them all during his years in sports media.
