Boasting an extensive national and global journalism career, Shi Davidi joined Sportsnet in 2011 as a MLB Insider and columnist for sportsnet.ca. As one of Sportsnet’s leading baseball insiders, Davidi brings fans the latest news from the Toronto Blue Jays clubhouse and from around the major leagues.
A native of Toronto, Davidi graduated from Ryerson University with a degree in journalism before jumpstarting his career in sports media. Working for a variety of publications throughout Canada and the world, Davidi held roles with Sun TV, the Japan Times, the Jerusalem Post and The Hockey News before eventually landing at The Canadian Press.
Davidi’s career highlights to date include covering the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Winter Games (including the men’s gold medal hockey game), reporting from the 2006 World Baseball Classic and covering the Grey Cup in 2001 and 2007. Davidi has also been the recipient of several awards, including the Canadian Press Livewire Award (2000, 2006, 2008, 2009), the Greg Clark Award in 2004, and the Fan 590 Award in 1997.
When not reporting from the ball park, Davidi is the secretary/treasurer for the Toronto Chapter of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America and is a member of the Professional Advisory Committee for the Centennial College Sports Journalism Program.
